Ratio 3, 903 Guerrero, San Francisco, CA 94110
Opening reception: February 25, 2005, 6-8pm.
Ratio 3 is pleased to present Mitzi Pederson: Unlet Me Go , on view from February 25 to March 27, 2005.
Mitzi Pederson will present a combination of two- and three-dimensional works that display reconstructed actions and transformed "accidents" initiated through chance. The pieces in the exhibition are partly determined by the accumulation of these events or the application of material to highlight particular moments. These works share a similar presence yet offer different perceptions and experiences. Using suggestions of line and form, she explores the dimensional boundaries of drawing and the occupation of space. Pederson employs materials that allow her to create a subtle balance of the contradicting natures the materials posses.
Mitzi Pederson was born in 1976 in Stuart, Florida. She received a B.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University in 1999. In 2004 she completed an M.F.A. in Painting and Drawing at the California College of the Arts. Her work was included in Land of the Free , Jack Hanley Gallery, San Francisco (2004), and in Color Wheel Oblivion , Marella Arte Contemporanea, Milan, Italy (2004). Pederson lives and works in San Francisco. This is her first solo exhibition.
